Under The Sea Swap!!

Ok, so for those of you who waited patiently (or for those of you just coming to this post, thinking "what's going on?")--await no more!

With the coming of warmer temperatures (and I say this loosely; as of yesterday, I huddled through dreary windy weather at 38 Farenheit!), my thoughts turn to spring, which then turn to summer..which leads me to think of the beach...which leads me to the idea of mermaids and kittenfish and such...you see where this is going, right?

So, I noticed that when I created the Kittenfish, I had SEVERAL comments about either buying them or trying to trade for them....hmmm.....I don't quite remember that response with my other little doll creations...

So I thought, what better way to celebrate the coming of the warmer weather, while flexing our creative muscles? And, since people seem very interested in Sea Creatures I came up with the perfect idea :

Welcome to the first ever Wild At Heart Swap--Under the Sea--a.k.a. "The Sea Monster Swap" (which was what I first was going with, but I didn't want you to think you had to make monsters. Hmm...even though I think the darker artists would LOVE that).

***The Mission: Create a fantastical creature that lives in the great, mysterious waters.

These include: Mermaids, Mermen, Catfish, Water Dragons, Water Nymphs (and, yes, for the dark artists:) Swamp Creatures, Sea Monsters, Big Squid and Octopi (that would be the plural for Octopus, but you knew that)..or any other such sea creatures from mythology or your own unique imagination!

Now for the specifics:

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP May 8th!
PARTNERS ANNOUNCED MAY 10th
DEADLINE TO GET YOUR DOLL PUBLISHED ON THIS BLOG JUNE 17th
DEADLINE TO GET YOUR DOLL TO YOUR PARTNER JUNE 25th

*SIGN UP FOR THE SWAP WILL BE UNTIL MAY 8th (roughly a month from NOW). I will announce swap partners on May 9th. Once you have let me know of your interest I will list on the right sidebar of this blog.
*This swap is open to ALL dollmakers and crafters. You need not be in any group to participate.
* Dolls can be made in any medium: clay, cloth, wood, etc
* The dolls will need to be completed by JUNE 15th and be received by your swap partner by June 25th.
*Dolls should be in the range of at least 4 x4, but no larger than 7 x 7 (just to keep things even amongst all of us)--however, there won't be anyone with a ruler to peg the "exactness" of the work!
* You do not need to participate, however, if you so wish to send a picture of your finished doll to me, I will be posting the finished pics here on June 16th.
* PLEASE, please, please spread the word about this doll swap on your own blogs--the more participants we get, the more chance for a variety of swap partners! I have made a little badge, below that you might be able to use, or perhaps you can just use the larger one, above :)
