Well, as I promised, I will be posting the entire process of creating the Queen of Hearts heart. Before I do so, I also wanted to add to yesterdays passel of news: I forgot to mention that my dolls are featured in this months "Small Town Living" online magazine! It's a great online magazine that features old fashioned, rural and simple living--I think it's just aces, so run over and check it out!
Also, I will be featuring even more dolls in MY online magazine Big Town Farmer! Our upcoming edition will be featuring the Spooky Time Jingles crew! Yes, I know what you're thinking: what the heck am I doing with a magazine? Don't I LIKE sleeping? And, how much dolli-ness can one surround themselves with?? Apparently, LOTS!
Ok, having said that, here is how I constructed Queen of Hearts:
Feel free to click to enlarge!
Measured the heart out. It needed to be 5 x 5"

I am not really good at drawing out sketches before I create the project, but I actually was worried about the strange placement of the crown and such. Since this was really the image that I wanted to add to the heart, I drew directly onto it, using a soft animation pencil (sorry for the poor quality, the camera was acting up this day...hmmm....)

But then....TADA! The finished project! All Hail the Queen!
BUT WAIT!Let's not forget the BACK of the heart! Because I am always finding myself adding "bits and baubles" I couldn't resist...some sequined stars to go with the hearts!
I hope you like it, Sarah! As well as you, Good Readers!

Zan, your Queen of Hearts is wonderful! I love seeing how artists create their pieces and she turned out perfectly. I love the colours you have used to paint her.
Just spent almost an hour
reading Small Town Living - what a cool mag. I don't live in the US, but do live in a small town, so
I found a lot of the articles really interesting. The one of your and your dolls is great! And, my goodness girl, you are gorgeous!
